“Desde la infancia he sido fiel a los monstruos, me han salvado. Porque los monstruos, creo, son los santos patronos de nuestra dichosa imperfección. Y permiten y encarnan la posibilidad de fallar y vivir”

- Guillermo del Toro.

Guillermo del Toro, born in Guadalajara, Mexico, is one of the world's most creative and renowned filmmakers. Like many other directors, he believes in Mexico and its potential. Here are some film productions shot in Mexican locations:

La Máscara del Zorro (The Mask of Zorro):

Filmed in the deserts of California and various locations in Sonora, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, and the State of Mexico. The movie is set in the early 19th century during the Independence of Mexico, portraying the planned sale of Mexican territory to the United States. Notable locations include the beaches of Guaymas, Sonora, and the Hacienda de San Blas in Tlaxcala.

Romeo y Julieta (Romeo and Juliet):

Directed by Baz Luhrmann, this postmodern adaptation of Shakespeare's classic love story is set in Mexico City, Veracruz, and Texcoco, State of Mexico. Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes star in this contemporary version, maintaining the original Renaissance script. Filming locations include the Castillo de Chapultepec and the Purísimo Corazón de María parish in Mexico City.

Hombre en Llamas (Man on Fire):

Presents Mexico City through aerial shots featuring iconic areas such as Paseo de la Reforma, the Metropolitan Cathedral, and the Latin American Tower. Despite showcasing the city's dual nature—harmonious blend of colonial and modern architecture along with security challenges—the film highlights the cosmopolitan greatness, size, culture, and tourist offerings of Mexico City.

Titanic:

Directed by James Cameron, this acclaimed love story was filmed in the Fox Studios Baja in Rosarito, Baja California. The region, near Tijuana, is renowned for its beautiful beaches, ideal for surfing and sport fishing. The area also stands out for its exquisite cuisine, particularly the signature dish of lobster. Other notable films like "Pearl Harbor" and "James Bond 007: Tomorrow Never Dies" were also shot in these studios.

Troya (Troy):

Starring Brad Pitt and Eric Bana, this film depicts part of the Trojan War with impressive shots of the Achaean naval fleet arriving in "Greece," featuring golden beaches and deep blue waters. These scenes were filmed in the beautiful beaches of Los Cabos, Baja California Sur.
