Mexico’s natural wonders offer a wide variety of beautiful sceneries perfect for any traveler’s dream vacation. Among its many treasures lie the mesmerizing natural islands, each offering a unique escape into the lap of nature's splendor.

Holbox, Yucatán

Holbox was once a rather secret island, but in the past few years, it has become more touristy. Still, it’s worth visiting to check out its car-free roads, crystal-clear waters, and relaxed vibes.

Getting there takes a 15-minute ferry that departs from the town of Chiquilá, but once you’re there, be prepared to be amazed by crystal-clear waters, car-free roads, amazing beaches, and activities such as snorkeling with whale sharks, surfing or kayaking.

If you’re in luck and stay over at one of the local hotels in the summer, you’ll be able to see the bioluminescent waters. If you don’t plan to stay over, Holbox is easily accessible from Cancun, Riviera Maya, or Playa Del Carmen, since there are many full-day tours including boat tours on the island, ferry transport and meals.

Isla Mujeres

Unlike Cancun’s busy hotel and tourist zone, Isla Mujeres offers an ideal relaxing atmosphere. Separated only by the tranquil waters of the Caribbean, despite its proximity and easy accessibility, this five-mile-long island offers charming beachfront spots in a beach retreat.

Isla Mujeres has two main areas: the north side, which is full of activity and attractions in Playa Norte, and the southern area which offers panoramic vistas of the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. As for lodging, you can find both luxury stays and budget-friendly accommodations.

Reaching Isla Mujeres is easy, with regular ferry services departing from Cancun, providing s, Isla Mujeres promises an enchanting escape into a laid-back paradise just moments away from Cancun's dynamic energy.

Islas Marietas

Just a short distance from the shores of Puerto Vallarta is the Islas Marietas, a sanctuary for diverse marine and bird species. These rocky, uninhabited islands have a rich biodiversity and a hidden gem known as the Secret Beach.

Access to the islands themselves is restricted, preserving their ecological integrity. However, visitors can still marvel at their beauty by embarking on boat tours, diving excursions, and even swimming through a tunnel during low tide to reach the beach.

Licensed tour operators facilitate these experiences, ensuring both safety and environmental conservation. Accommodations are not available on Islas Marietas, making nearby Puerto Vallarta or the charming beach towns along the Riviera Nayarit the most convenient bases for exploration.

Isla Espíritu Santo

Located in La Paz, Baja California, you will find an impressive scenic beauty; the contrast between sea and desert, volcanic rock formations, numerous beaches, as well as a large amount of endemic flora and fauna.

Daily, there are travel operators who conduct tours and visit various points of interest in the area. Most tours include lunch on one of the paradisiacal beaches where you can practice kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, or simply relax on its soft white sand while observing the different shades of blue in the sea. The beauty of Isla Espíritu Santo is the perfect setting for experiencing glamping under the stars.
